Scales and pyrometers for the press

Balances and thermometers that suit scientific molding studies and IMPD’s weight and temperature capture.

Recommendations only; no affiliation. Compatibility with IMPD’s planned Bluetooth features will be confirmed before release.

Works today vs planned

What IMPD supports right now

  • Works today: scales with an RS-232 output, connected to the tablet through a USB-serial adapter and a USB-C OTG adapter. Tap Capture weight in the keypad to read the weight into the cell you are editing.
  • Option: wireless Bluetooth scale capture.
  • Planned: Bluetooth melt and mold temperature probes. Until then, type temperature readings in by hand.

Setup steps are on the Help & Setup page.

Scales

Balances for part and shot weights

Pick a readability that fits your parts: 0.001 g for very small parts, 0.01 g for most, 0.1 g for large shots.

Temperature

Pyrometers and thermometers for melt and mold

For melt, use a needle (immersion) probe; for mold steel, a surface probe. IR guns are quick but read emissivity-dependent surface temperature.
